This front yard was a blank slate, begging for curb appeal. The area was all filtered sunlight to shady, so we removed all the thin lawn and moss, and replaced with meandering paths, planter beds and flagstone patio.  Landscape lighting was added later in the year since the days are so short during the fall and winter months.
